Doula Support For Surrogates and Intending Parents

Surrogate

  • Our first visit is all about connection! We’ll review your intake form, talk about your birth preferences, and discuss how we can best support you and your family. This visit helps us build trust and set the foundation for your care.

  • These visits are designed to support the surrogate through every step of her pregnancy, focusing on her physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Each visit will address pregnancy milestones, offer comfort techniques, and help prepare for labor. The surrogate will receive personalized care, including birth plan development and emotional check-ins to ensure she feels empowered and supported throughout her journey.

  • This additional visit ensures the surrogate receives guidance and emotional support during the critical moment of handing the newborn over to the intended parents. We'll be there to support the surrogate through this emotional transition, providing comfort and reassurance as she navigates the birth experience and the delicate moment of parting with the baby she carried.

  • During labor, the surrogate will receive continuous, compassionate support, including comfort techniques such as breathing, positioning, and pain relief options. We’ll advocate for her needs and ensure that her preferences are respected, providing both emotional and physical reassurance every step of the way.

  • Your doula will be on call at 35 weeks.

  • This visit focuses on the surrogate’s recovery after birth. We’ll provide support for emotional and physical healing, guide her through the recovery process, and offer resources for self-care and family bonding. This visit ensures she is supported as she transitions out of her pregnancy and into postpartum recovery.

  • This additional visit is dedicated to helping the surrogate process the emotional and mental transition after giving birth and handing over the baby. We’ll offer continued emotional support, provide a safe space for her to talk through any feelings of loss or attachment, and ensure she’s receiving the proper care to adjust to the shift in her role. This visit helps the surrogate through the delicate emotional adjustment as she navigates life after birth.

Intending Parents

  • Our first visit is all about connection! We’ll review your intake form, talk about your birth preferences, and discuss how we can best support you and your family. This visit helps us build trust and set the foundation for your care.

  • These visits are for intended parents to help them navigate the surrogacy journey. We’ll educate them on pregnancy milestones, offer emotional support, and guide them on how to best support the surrogate. We’ll also help them create a birth plan that aligns with both the surrogate's and their expectations for the birth. The intended parents will be prepared, informed, and supported throughout the process.

  • This visit supports the intended parents through the crucial moment of receiving their newborn from the surrogate. We provide guidance on newborn care, help with the bonding process, and offer emotional support as they connect with their baby for the first time. This visit ensures that the intended parents feel confident, prepared, and emotionally supported as they begin their new journey with their baby.

  • During labor, the intended parents will receive support to ensure they are calm, informed, and connected. We’ll advocate on their behalf, ensuring their wishes are respected by the medical team. We’ll provide guidance on supporting the surrogate during labor and birth, and facilitate communication to make sure everyone feels supported and prepared.

  • The postpartum visit offers intended parents support in caring for their newborn and transitioning into life as a family. We’ll guide them through newborn care, help with breastfeeding, bottle feeding or bonding, and provide emotional support as they adjust to their new role. This visit ensures they feel confident and supported in their new journey with their baby.

  • Your doula will be on call at 37 weeks.
